Steve, our Technical Director, founded Vorticity, a niche aerospace engineering consultancy, in 2001. Today Steve is excited to see Vorticity continue to grow and lead in its field of parachute simulation, systems design and aerospace innovation.
John, our Principal Engineer, has extensive experience with all aspects of parachute system design including system definition and trades, computer modelling and testing – both in wind tunnels and free-flight.
Sarah, our People and Business Development Manager, joined Vorticity in August 2011. With more twenty years' experience of working in professional services and the technology sector, Sarah is relishing the challenge of working in the dynamic environment of the aerospace engineering sector.
Sam, a Senior Engineer, has expertise in system definition and trades, computer modelling, simulation software development and test analysis.
Arrun is a Senior Engineer. His area of expertise is in orbit dynamics and the near-Earth space environment; secular thermospheric density change and the estimation of satellite physical properties for use in predicting long-term orbital evolution.
Aurélien joined Vorticity in April 2013 as a systems engineer after graduating from the French Institute of Civil Aviation and studying for an MSc at Cranfield University. Aurélien has experience in rocket engine design and entry descent and landing simulations. He specialised in space systems engineering during his final year of study at Cranfield University.
Steven joined Vorticity in May 2014 as a systems engineer. A graduate engineer from the University of Cambridge, he specialised in Aerospace/Aerothermal engineering in his final year of study. His Masters project focused on the development of Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) techniques.
Hélène joined Vorticity in April 2016 as a systems engineer after graduating from Mines de Nancy (Energy department) and studying for an MSc at Cranfield University. Her Masters project focused on CFD modelling and flight testing of a twin turboprop aircraft where she specialised in Aerospace Dynamics in her final year of study. Hélène's interests include running, playing the piano and dancing salsa.
Thomas joined Vorticity as a systems engineer in September 2019, after completing his MEng at the University of Cambridge. His master's project was an experimental investigation into the effect of material properties on parachute inflation. He also studied fluid mechanics and computing on an exchange at CentraleSupélec in Paris, and has a love for the French language and cuisine.
Joseph joined Vorticity in August 2019 as a systems engineer. A graduate of the University of Southampton, he specialised in materials and manufacturing techniques in his final year of study. Joseph's interests include running and climbing.
Co-founder of Vorticity and Company Secretary. Hugh has led a number of major projects for the aerospace, IT and upstream oil exploration industries over the last twenty-five years.
